Former Prime Minister Alfred Sant, addressing a social activity at the Valletta Labour Party Club stressed that “one problem during the past months has been the refusal of the PN opposition to accept that they lost the Government. However despite some mistakes it may have made, the Labour administration clearly merits a vote of confidence by the people for the dynamic approach it has injected into national affairs.”

“This will need to be carried forward into Malta’s relations with the EU. Many people still fail to understand the important impact which European level decisions have on their lives. In the conduct of Maltese policies to enhance our national interests, the Labour Party needs a strong mandate and deserves to get it,” Said Sant.

Alfred Sant, who will be contesting the EP Elections in May, met up with political friends and colleagues of long standing during the event.

He concluded by saying that the Opposition is “effectively ignoring the strong mandate that the present government was given by the electorate and is trying to torpedo projects that have received the approval of the people. Alfred Sant said that the aim of the Opposition clearly is to try to make a comeback in the EP elections of May.”
