The Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity has signed three Public Social Partnerships with NGOs.
The Minister Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca said that these Public Social Partnerships will provide a high profile to NGOs as the government will be buying services from them which will enable them to continue with their social work in the community .
The three Public Social Partnerships have been signed with mal-Fondazzjoni Kenn u Tama, the Nazareth Foundation and the YMCA.
Fondazzjoni Kenn u Tama is opening the first house in Gozo for female victims of domestic violence in Victoria. The house, called Dar Emmaus, will be inaugurated this coming Saturday, by the new President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
The shelter will also serve as a meeting point where children of estranged parents may be picked up by either of the parents in terms of court orders.
Talking about this agreement the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, explained that this was a much needed facility which will provide shelter for victims of domestic violence in Gozo .
He mentioned that Mal-Fondazzjoni Kenn u Tama had, from the beginning, found the full support of the Ministry for Gozo to enable this to happen.
The agreement with the Nazereth Foundation includes a social service social with the disabled, while that with the YMCA is linked to assistance for homeless people.
