The Technical Regulations Division within the Malta Competition and Consumers Affairs Authority (MCCAA) is advising consumers who may have bought baby bed canopies from IKEA, possibly also online, to stop using them immediately.

The affected models are Legendarisk, Minnen bed canopy set, Barnslig Boll, Minnen Brodyr, Himmel, Fabler, Tissla and Klammig.

These baby bed canopies, which look like mosquito nets and are designed to be draped over a child’s bed, are being withdrawn from the market and recalled from consumers over fears they could strangle children.

This action has been taken by IKEA after receiving reports of young children becoming entangled in the product.

Those consumers who have any of these products in their possession should contact the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, Technical Regulations Division, on 23952000.
