New water & electricity online calculator & mobile app launched

An online calculator and a mobile app have been launched by Dr Konrad Mizzi, Minister for Energy and Health, on a visit to a family in San Gwann. These will allow consumers to calculate their energy and water consumption based on the new rates that were introduced for families, as from 31st March 2014.

While, exchanging views on the benefits of cheaper water and electricity tariffs, the Minister, explained how customers can use the online calculator and mobile app to check the savings made. Consumers have also the facility to make comparisons between the new and the old tariffs.

Minister Dr Konrad Mizzi, explained that bills that will be issued will include cross-over rates, i.e. rates covering the periods both before and after the 31st March 2014, depending on the date of the last meter reading.

The family expressed their satisfaction as such initiatives can give a much needed boost to the Maltese families.

The online calculator can either be accessed on www.energy.gov.mt by clicking on the main banner or alternatively, one can download the mobile app, “Bill Savings,” from smart phones operating on an Android Operating Systems or iOS. The app can also be downloaded from the Ministry for Energy and Health website.
