On Saturday, the 12th of April, the Maltese Culture Movement will be holding a function commemorating its 16th Anniversary since its foundation on 12th April 1998.

All the activities will be held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus & St Peter the Apostle Church Centre, 356 London Road, Waterlooville, Hampshire. This will be the seventh time that functions have been held in this part of the UK.

The celebrations will begin at 11.00am with a thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Fr Charles Grech OFM (Maltese Chaplain) and Fr Kevin Bidgood (Parish Priest) remembering the late members of the Movement. After the mass the festivities will continue with a Maltese Fair and a get-together.

Waterlooville, located centrally in Hampshire and close to Portsmouth and Southampton, has long had a good concentration of Maltese settlers especially from those connected with the British Naval Forces and Services.

This is an initiative from the Maltese Culture Movement in its continuous effort to reach out and connect with the Maltese Diaspora outside London UK, while meeting members’ demand.

So on Friday, the 11th pf April a Luton van full of Maltese Products – pastizzi, figolli Kinnie, Cisk and much more, together with a squad of dedicated troops will convoy to Waterlooville, Portsmouth.

The Movement said that “ironically this is the very place that convoys used to leave from, with provisions to Malta during WW2. Now some seventy years later the situation is reversed albeit on a much smaller scale though to similar elation!”
