H.L. Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, this evening lead a Concelebrated Mass at Independence Square, Victoria on the devotional feast day of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows,
The Mass was followed by a Penitential Pilgrimage along the main streets of Victoria.
The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo attended the Mass in Victoria.
This feast is traditionally celebrated on the Friday before Good Friday, with the faithful walking in the procession behind penitential pilgrimages in practically every town and village across the islands, the photograph below is of the procession in Xaghra.
Some of the penitents will walk barefoot, in fulfilment of some vow for favours received through divine intercession.
