Industrial Producer Price Index increased by 2.10% in March

Provisional data indicates that the industrial producer price index in March increased by 2.10 per cent over the previous month .
Monthly comparison
In March, the producer price index for total industry increased by 2.10 per cent to 96.43 points. Prices increased by 4.09 per cent for intermediate goods and by 1.10 per cent for consumer goods. No changes were reported for energy and capital goods.
Prices within the domestic market increased by 0.69 per cent, due to a 2.23 per cent rise in consumer goods. Prices within the domestic market were mitigated by a decline of 0.09 per cent for intermediate goods, while other sectors within the domestic market remained stable.
Prices for the non-domestic market increased by 3.19 per cent. Producer prices in respect of goods destined for the euro area went up by 2.27 per cent while prices in the non-euro area rose by 3.74 per cent.
Annual comparison
On an annual basis, the industrial producer price index declined by 1.66 per cent. The downturn resulted from price decreases in intermediate goods by 4.19 per cent. However, price increases of 1.35 per cent and 0.23 per cent were recorded in capital and consumer goods respectively. No price changes were registered in the energy sector.
Producer prices for the domestic market increased by 0.77 per cent, mainly on account of a rise of 3.29 per cent and 3.05 per cent in capital and consumer goods respectively. A decrease of 1.93 per cent was registered within intermediate goods.
During the period under review, non-domestic prices decreased by 3.43 per cent. This was due to a drop of 5.67 per cent within the non-euro area, but an increase of 0.53 per cent in the euro area.
