The Economic Crime Unit of the Malta Police Force, assisted by other Police units including the Administrative Law Enforcement Unite (ALE), intercepted a cabin cruiser at noon on Saturday, which entered and moored at the Grand Harbour.

The Police said that during a search on board the vessel, 45 master-cases of tobacco, containing approximately 450,000 untaxed cigarettes and two small handguns were found.

Two Maltese men, who were on-board the vessel, were arrested and brought to the Police Headquarters for further investigations.

Further investigations are underway, while several experts have been appointed to assist with a magisterial inquiry.
