265 photovoltaic panels to be installed at the Tac Cawla housing estate, Gozo

The Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo has officially announced that maintenance works are expected start in the housing Tac-Cawla housing estate this month and should be completed in the summer.

265 photovoltaic panels are to be installed on the roofs of the apartment blocks. It is estimated that combined, these will generate around 104,000 units of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of 28 families. This project will cost 266,674 euros and will be financed from European funds .

The Minister said that other maintenance work on the roofs will include concreting, the installation of new membranes and the installation of related water and electricity services. He thanked the Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity Dr Michael Farrugia, for his cooperation and assistance with the the funding, totalling 32,000 euros, which will allow the work to be carried out.

The Gozo Minister promised the that the Government will continue with improvements of the infrastructure in the Government housing estate, in order to raise the living standards of the residents.
