The 12th of July marked the 200th anniversary since the Malta Police Force was established. Various events have been taking place across Malta in celebration, and on Tuesday evening it was the turn of Gozo, with an activity held in Marsalforn.
A Mass was celebrated at Santa Marija cemetery chapel followed by the blessing of Police graves and laying of flowers.
A Police Band March took place along Mikelang Refalo Street, Marsalforn, with a Police Band Concert and displays by the Precision Drill Team.
The 200th anniversary logo branded “200 sena – Min-Nies Ghan-Nies 1814-2014,” was launched in December last year and will remain its emblem throughout the calendar year of 2014. A one minute video ‘Fast forwarding 200 years of service’ marking the duties of the Police Force was also launched to mark the anniversary.
