Many hundreds of people from across Gozo, as well as those who travelled from Malta, attended a Vigil held at the National Sanctuary of Our Lady ‘Ta’ Pinu”on Thursday evening, the eve of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady, which is popularly known as ‘Santa Marija.’Hundreds attend evening Vigil at Ta' Pinu led by Bishop Mario GrechThe Vigil, in the form of special prayers for World Peace and for Persecuted Christians in regions such as Syria, Iraq and the Holy Land, was held on the Parvis in front of the Marian Sanctuary, starting with psalm singing, followed by the Vigil Mass led by H. L. Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo.

This was followed by a Eucharistic Adoration at the Sanctuary, and another Mass at midnight.

The event was organised by the Diocesan Curia in collaboration with the National Sanctuary of Our Lady ‘Ta’ Pinu”s administration. It was transmitted live on Radio Maria.

The Vigil which closed the fifteen traditional and devotional Wednesdays held at Ta’ Pinu in spiritual preparation for the 15th of August’s great Solemnity.
