GUG elect new executive with the aim of continued growth

A new Gozo University Group (GUG) executive has been officially elected. The new executive, which consists of 9 new members and 4 members from the previous one, said that they will now start their yearlong job to safeguard all that effects in any way, shape or form, Gozitan students.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took, place at the University campus in Gozo was attended by an estimated 12% of the Gozitan students. GUG president, Ryan Mercieca together with Secretary Deborah Caruana gave out the yearly report, which included the goals reached throughout the year, and the objectives planned for the next.
The Financial Officer Derek Borg gave out the financial report for the year while a new sub-committee to discuss the government’s budget proposals in the coming months was approved. This will consist of 4 members elected from those present.
An election also took place during this year’s AGM, as two candidates were nominated for the same post, the role of the Public Relations Officer (PRO). A vote was taken and Denis Muscat was ultimately elected as the new PRO with a majority of 71% of the votes casted.
It was last official day as part of the GUG executive for Marc Schembri, Julia Camilleri and Derek Borg, who worked within the organisation and GUG said that much credit was owed to them for what the organisation has become. They were given the opportunity to make their final speech as executive members and all admitted that GUG “will always have a special place in their heart.”
