5 men, including 3 AFM soldiers plead guilty to attempted theft in Gozo

Five men, appeared in the Gozo Court this evening charged with the attempted theft earlier this week from a shop and showroom in Victoria.

The five defendants, including three members of the Armed Forces of Malta, all pleaded guilty to the charges: Ronnie McKay, Robert Agius and Daniel Vella, are all AFM soldiers, and Kurt Buttigieg and Juanito Ximenes.

The shop owner intervened in the attempted burglary as the the men were trying to open a safe. They managed to escape but were later apprehended on the Gozo ferry.

Bail was refused pending sentencing.
