A pilot project was successfully launched today which enables doctors to give a medical testimony from hospital on a case directly to the Court by virtue of videoconferencing.

This took place for the first time today, with the pilot project being carried out in the Gozo Court following collaboration between the Ministry for Gozo and the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Local Government. Once the system is perfected it will also start running in Malta.

The Government said that this new system not only ensures that doctors do not lose valuable time by having to attend Court – time when they would have to be away from their patients – but it also reduces paperwork and increases efficiency.

“This is another step completed from the list of computing measures taken by the Government to increase the efficiency of the justice system in our country, which is implementing measures of reform in the field of Justice.”
