The Ministry for Education and Employment has launched a policy document for ‘Addressing Bullying Behaviour in Schools.’

The document predominantly focuses on supporting active citizenship and values-based education, bringing together various sectors that make up the education system.

Additionally it stresses the need for all members of the school community to be on board and be responsible for this framework to be implemented successfully.

The policy will apply in all state schools, while meetings are being held with Church and independent schools that are interested in adopting it.

Schools will be able to adapt the policy to their specific needs, and also appoint designated people to deal with bullying reports made by students, teachers or parents.
