Gozo Regional Carnival 2015 programme of activities announced

The programme of activities for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2015 were announced today during a press conference by the Minister of Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Stefan Buontempo.

Minister Refalo said that the aim of the Carnival in Gozo, is that besides the very popular spontaneous Carnival in Nadur, there are also attractions and entertainment aimed at the whole family.

Carnival fever in Victoria, will get underway on Friday, the 13th of February, with the traditional and spontaneous Carnival in St George’s Square, Victoria. On Saturday, the 14th of February, in the morning there will be the children’s carnival in St Francis Square, then in the evening, before the Nadur Spontaneous Carnival, there will be an organised parade in Republic Street. On Sunday, the 15th of February it will be the Regional Carnival in Victoria. This year the spectacle of Carnival will be held in Fortunato Mizzi Street due to the work being carried out in Independence Square.

Visitors to Gozo, for this very popular weekend, both local and tourists, will be welcomed with a riot of colour and plenty of excitement to keep all ages entertained

Dr Refalo thanked those workers on Gozo Channel, the police and Transport Malta, who are all crucial in this important weekend, he said.

“This is a Government that promotes Maltese culture and traditions, which gives priority to offering aid to Maltese talent,” stressed the the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Stefan Buontempo

He added that the Secretariat for Local Government will also assist the local councils of Nadur, Xewkija and Xaghra so they can organise activities. “This will again lead to thousands of local and foreign visitors to Gozo between the thirteenth and fifteenth of February.”

Minister Refalo thanked everyone involved in the carnival, “who work tirelessly and voluntarily throughout the year and all the committees involved both in Gozo and Malta who have helped the Gozo Regional Carnival Gozo continue to grow.”
