The Spring Hunting Out (SHout) campaign said today that it welcomes a public announcement from Maltese tenor and cultural ambassador Joseph Calleja in which he says that spring hunting is ‘no longer tenable’ in Malta.

In a blog post on his website, Joseph Calleja points out that “the situation with regards to spring hunting has changed over many years, with less space in the countryside and fewer turtle dove and quail to shoot.”

Romina Tolu, SHout campaign coordinator said, “we welcome this thoughtful and considered opinion from Joseph Calleja, one of Malta’s most well-known and respected talents.”

Romina continued “Joseph Calleja’s post shows that this issue is bringing together many people who might have differing opinions on other matters, but who all agree that it is time to vote ‘no’ to spring hunting in Malta.”
