During and Open Day on Tuesday at the MCAST Gozo Campus, the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo, announced the granting of a subsidy to Maltese students who are studying in Gozo.

Dr Refalo spoke about the financial assistance provided to Gozitan students attending full-time courses at the University of Malta, as well as those students who are attending full-time courses at MCAST and the Institute for Tourism Studies in Malta, which he said, helps reduce any additional financial burden.

These students receive a subsidy of €400 per quarter directly into their bank account, from the Ministry for Gozo.

Dr Refalo stated that from this school year students who are resident in Malta and are pursuing full-time regimens at either the Malta University Gozo Campus, MCAST, or the Institute for Tourism Studies in Gozo, will be eligible to apply for this particular subsidy.

“The Ministry for Gozo appreciates the added difficulties faced by Maltese students who are studying in Gozo and therefore saw the need for these students to also benefit from the subsidy,” the Minister said.

“This measure will encourage students who are resident in Malta to attend full-time courses in Gozo, and is also in line with the Government policy to stimulate student financial grants to pursue higher studies or vocational training.”

Applications for this subsidy must be submitted on the form which may be obtained from the Directorate of Customer Services within the Ministry for Gozo, St Francis Square, Victoria, Gozo, or downloaded here.
