The Ministry for Gozo has said in a statement this afternoon, that the Opposition has attacked one of its own, as in Chris Said, “in another attempt to cover up the scandal of private work carried out with public funds, when the Nationalist Party was in Government, and for which the husband of the former Minister Giovanna Debono, has already been brought before the courts.” This attempt, the Ministry said, “has blown up in the Opposition’s face.”
“The PN Deputy Leader Beppe Fenech Adami attacked the Government over the use of 7 metres of concrete on a road used by farmers to enter Government land,” the Ministry said.
“As evidenced by a declaration of 6 farmers of the area, this road was made by the Nadur Local Council back in 2002 when the Mayor was Chris Said.”
The Ministry added, “the recent 7 metres added on to this already existing road, which is approximately 150 metres long, was arranged by the Government. This is aside to other work done on the same road from Nadur Council, led this time by Charles Said, the brother of Chris Said.”
“The Government has no difficulty with the a Police investigation into all the tasks performed in this legislature, access to documents, as well as all the information necessary, and to bring to justice all that it deems appropriate.”
The Ministry concluded that “meanwhile the Leader of the Opposition still does not want to remember what was said by the whistleblower, as well as his response during the famous meeting at which Dr Busuttil had details of the scandal, and still did not take any steps in action.”
