The Gozo College – Gharb Primary, with the assistance of the Gozo College’s Activity Teachers, recently organised a night trekking walk.
The trek started from the main square in Xaghra, with the group, made up of students and parents, walking to the lush Gnien Imrik valley. During the walk the group passed close by to the dams found in the valley. These were constructed during the 1960’s for the retention and harvesting of more rain water.
The route followed by the group included a detour close to the newly lit Saviour’s Statue on the top of the picturesque Il-Merzuq or Il-Mungbell Hill – more commonly known as Tas-Salvatur Hill.
Pupils and parents continued walking along Wied l-Infern and on through Qbajjar Bay, where the welcoming sight of the calm sea, with its refreshing breeze made the one-and-a-half hours walk all the more enjoyable for the group.
What a fantastic idea. I would jump at the chance to participate. It has beautiful scenery. Wishing Sydney was not so far away from Gozo (the jewel of the Mediterranean)
