President’s Ball to be held at Ggantija Temples in Gozo for 2nd year

At a press conference held at the Ggantija Temples today, President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, launched the second edition of The President’s Ball, which will be held once again at the Ggantija Temples, Gozo, in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund.

This year the Ball is being held on Saturday, the 27th of June. The President said that the uniqueness of the Ggantija Temples both locally as well as internationally is the reason why this venue is chosen as the backdrop for this event.

The Malta Community Chest Fund is continuing in its efforts to raise funds because it has to continue being in a position to help as much as possible, especially the Maltese and Gozitan residents who seek help for medical treatment abroad, the President said.

“The Malta Community Chest Fund is paying out €250,000 monthly to be used for therapy; for provision of accommodation to patients as well as their relatives; and for transport expenses for these said patients and relatives when they are abroad.”

Present for the launch was the the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, who thanked the President for this second occasion of the Ball in Gozo, The Minister encouraged fellow Gozitans to join in this unique evening, whilst also helping The Malta Community Chest Fund.

Dr Chris Said, the Shadow Minister for Gozo, said that the Ggantija Temples offers the ideal setting for such a prestigious event. He reiterated the appeal for the people of Gozo to take advantage of this occasion to help the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The Chairman of the Committee of The President’s Ball, Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata stated that this is the second consecutive edition of The President’s Ball in Gozo, simply because such activities give the opportunity of creating the perfect social activity in a beautiful historical setting.

Today’s launch was also attended by the Parliamentary Secretary for Rights of People with Disability and Active Ageing. Dr Justyne Caruana, PN Deputy Whip Frederick Azzopardi, and the Xaghra Mayor Joe Cordina.

The President’s Ball will take place on Saturday 27th June at 8pm at Ggantija Temples. A donation of €90 per person is requested.
