Gozo Choir Chorus Urbanus, has released a new CD entitled ‘LUX’ which features the Sacred works of its musical director Dr John Galea.
The CD was officially launched last week during a ceremony held at The Tapestry Chamber, The Palace, Valletta, under the distinguished patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
This CD has been produced by Chorus Urbanus Productions to mark the 40th anniversary of the choir. In line with the 40th anniversary motto ‘Celebrating through Philanthropy,’ the choir is publishing this CD with works written exclusively for the choir by our long-standing musical director.
The profit from this CD will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund. The CD employs a wide sector of various combinations ranging from a cappella SATB motets, motets with soloist/s and organ, an a cappella work for solo, a quartet of soloists and SATB choir, motet for vocal quartet and a work for strings. With the exception of the latter, all the tracks were recorded at The Augustinian Priory in Victoria, Gozo.
The CD compilation was recorded by Studio 7. The track for strings was recorded in Sofia, with the participation of the string section of the Sofia Collegium Symphony Orchestra.
The artistic direction of the CD presentation was entrusted to artist Austin Camilleri, himself an ex-member of Chorus Urbanus who came up with an inspired creation that translates the LUX sound into image.
