On Monday evening Mrs Lina Refalo, the wife Gozo Minister Dr Anton Refalo, opened an exhibition of engravings of the Patron Saint of Xewkija, St John the Baptist, at the the Xewkija Prekursur Philharmonic Society Band Club

The exhibition, entitled ‘Engravings,’ is being held to mark the occasion of the the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the statue of St John the Baptist in Xewkija. An original engraving by artist Justin Falzon is also on display. Justin is an artist based in Gozo, who studied Fine Arts at the Lorenzo De Medici Art Institute in Florence.

During the four year course at the Institute, the focus of Justin’s studies was on drawing, painting and printmaking. His solo exhibitions include Insight, Kenuna Tower, Gozo (2001), In Search of the Soul, Hilton Malta (2006), Still Life, Calypso Hotel, Gozo (2006), Justetchings, Art…e Gallery, Victoria, Gozo (2011), and Skullscapes, Banca Giuratale, Victoria, Gozo (2013).

Present for the occasion, were the Mayor of Xewkija Mr. Paul Azzopardi, with Councillors and several distinguished guests.

Everyone is invited to attend the exhibition, which will be open to the public until Sunday, the 21st of June. The Feast of St John the Baptist is being celebrated in Xewkija between the 19th and 21st of June.
