Update: Michelle Muscat, has this evening completed her swim of the Gozo Channel for charity from, to help collect funds for the Marigold Foundation and Special Olympics Malta.

The Prime Minister’s wife started her swim from Qala and was accompanied in the choppy conditions by a support team, including a rescue boat. She arrived at Cirkewwa just before 6.00pm, where she was greeted by her husband, the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and their daughters and crowds of well-wishers.

Special Olympics athletes, joined with Ms Muscat in the last part of the swim from Comino.

Part of the funds collected will go towards assisting the participants of the Special Olympics take part in the World Summer Games, being held this July in Los Angeles.

Mrs Muscat has been undergoing the necessary training during the past few months, both in the pool at Ta ‘Qali, as well as in the sea.

The Marigold Foundation operates on a voluntary basis and offers valuable support to organisations to help strengthen their work in the community.
