The Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo welcomed with pleasure Marie Georgette Spiteri, a student at Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School and junior winner for Europe of an international creative essay competition.

The Minister congratulated Marie on her achievement, having won the ESU Junior European competition ‘My Magna Carta.’

The ‘My Magna Carta’ competition is being held in celebration of the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. Young people from across the UK, the English-Speaking Union’s member countries and throughout the Commonwealth were invited to create their very own Magna Carta for the 21st century: one document that safeguards and promotes the rights, privileges and liberties of either their own country or the whole world.

The participation of Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School in this European Competition was through the initiative of the ESU Gozo Branch.
