The Environmental Health Directorate has issued a warning this morning that, until further notice, swimming in Xlendi Bay, Gozo is not recommended due to possible contamination of the water.
The area affected is the top of the pier on the right hand side of the beach and the zone in front of Churchill Bar. Warning signs have been erected in the locality.
The Directorate said that this is because contaminated water from farms may have found its way to the sea.

Surely there should be an effective way of removing this water free of charge to farmers?
Too many boats coming in from all over the world. This should stop. The island is too small to take in all these boats and cruise liners, tankers and military ships. I do not believe for a second that farms caused this.

I’m trying to think when I last saw a tanker, cruise liner or naval ship in Xlendi Bay!!!
