2 men arrested after discovery of fireworks items in van arriving from Sicily

Two men have been arrested after Customs Department Officials found fireworks items hidden in a van that had arrived from Sicily.
In a statement the Customs Department sad that its officials had stopped the van, which had arrived on the catamaran, to ask the driver whether he had anything to declare. His response was that he was only carrying carpets and pillows.
The Customs staff carried out a search, which revealed nine boxes, two sacks and two suitcases full of pyrotechnic material, totalling 4,182 items.
The driver and his passenger were arrested by the Police, and a duty magistrate has opened an inquiry into the case. No details have been provided as to the identity of those arrested.
The fireworks items were transferred to a secure location, the Customs Department said.
