An agreement has been signed between the Lands Authority and the Xaghra Scout Group of Gozo. Through this agreement, the Xaghra Scout Group will now have a larger space to operate and welcome its members.
Minister for Lands Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi and Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri presided over the signing.
Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi said that the Land Authority is handing over a larger space that will be of great contribution and utilised in the best possible way for various activities.
He wished the Xaghra Scout Group well “for the mission they are carrying so that this building continues to be a centre that welcomes more Gozitan children and youth,” concluded the Minister.
“Today is an important day for this union as through this agreement, and thanks to the Lands Authority, the Xaghra Scout Group will have a much larger space to operate from to meet present and future demands,” said Minister Clint Camilleri.
The Xaghra Scout Group Leader Steven Sultana, said that, “the Xaghra Scout Group is one of the largest youth organisations in Gozo, it is well established in Xaghra, working with 150 children, young people and volunteers to become active citizens of the present and the future.”
He added that “now that the group has grown, this agreement to add the extension to the quarters is very important for us. Of course, this is only the first step of many. But as we have already restored the first part of the quarters, we are ready to face the challenges and many costs to work on this extension as well.”
Present for the signing was the Chief Executive Officer of the Lands Authority, Robert Vella, as well as members of the Xaghra Scout Group.
