Giochi – it’s a knockout took place this week in the village of Zebbug Gozo, as part of the events celebrating the village Festa.

The Square, all decorated for the festa was transformed into a sports arena where many people cheered their teams and enjoyed the exciting night of games, as well as local singers and dancers.The winning team in this event was the Strikers with 25 pts followed by the Assunta team with 21 points, then Ta’ l-ghazziela 17 pts and Bananas with 8 pts. The games were very exciting and the teams were very close till the end

Games were also organised for the public to take part in, including the tug of war, with prizes for the winners. The organisers gave thanks to the Zebbug Local Council and Zebbug Youth Committee for their support of the event.

The Strikers will now go on to represent Zebbug in the final, which is being held in Marsalforn on the 10th of September.

The villages entering this year are Zebbug, Xaghra, Xewkija, Sannat, Kercem, Xlendi and Gozo General Hospital Victoria.

The next games are to be held in Kercem on the 20th of August.

Sponsors for the events are TcTc, Arkadia, Gozo Express and Errea. Whichever team wins the final wins a smart watch for each player and vouchers from the sponsors.
