Din l-Art Helwa, as part of its 50th Anniversary calendar of events, opened the coastal watch tower at Dwejra, Gozo, to enable visitors to witness a fantastic view of the Perseids Meteor Shower (Tears of St. Lawrence).

Volunteers opened the tower until 1am for the occasion. It is one of the few remaining areas free of light pollution on the Maltese Islands.

Dr. Michael Nolle, a member of the Astronomical Society, gave interesting explanations to the public in attendance, who could view the sky through his telescope.
