Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo has launched the ‘Activty Matters,’ event, organised by the Cultural Office within the Gozo Ministry together with the Gozo Sports Board and Eco-Gozo.

The event will consist of a full day of interactive activities suitable for all the family in all ages groups and will be taking place on held on Sunday, the 20th of September at the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria.

The activities will be free of charge and opening between 09:00 – 18:00hrs. Showcasing Exercise workshops (Zumba to Tai Chi), Sports (Football to climbing), Art (Art to Music workshop), Traditional Games & Trades (Passju to Bizzilla).

The Minister for Gozo said the main purpose, is not only for the public to attend, but to also participate in the activities and workshops taking place throughout the day.

Activity Matters, will not only consist of a variety of activities but will also make everyone aware of the benefits of such activities.”

Dr Refalo added that many people associated sports and exercise to be of physical benefit, but it also had psychological, mental and emotional benefits.

“Games activities, especially traditional games, serve not only as relaxation, but also enable children to mix together and socialise. The arts such as painting, dancing and music, are an excellent way for an individual to express oneself.”

The Minister stressed that another important aspect is that it will create an environment and an opportunity, where parents and children can participate in activities, not only at the same time, but also together.

“This was particularly important because family time is becoming increasingly limited.” Dr Refalo concluded by encouraging families to attend the event and enjoy a happy and relaxing day together.
