A Gozitan hunter, was this morning fined €8,000 and had his hunting licence permanently withdrawn after he was found guilty in the Gozo Court of hunting protected birds. This case should serve as a lesson to all, said Magistrate Joe Mifsud.
Police found the protected birds at the home of 21-year old Nathaniel Agius, in Sannat last February, following a tip-off.
The Court also found him guilty of being in possession of both live and dead protected birds, some of which were embalmed, which is in breach of regulations.

At last a sensible sentence. Three months imprisonment on top would of course have been even better.
