In October, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices stood at 1.6 per cent, up from 0.7 per cent in 2014, the National Statistics Office said today.
The largest upward impacts on annual inflation were brought about by the Food and Non- alcoholic Beverages Index (0.49 percentage points), Restaurants and Hotels Index (0.35 percentage points) and Recreation and Culture Index (0.28 percentage points). These were mainly due to higher prices for vegetables, restaurant services and admission fees to cinemas and museums respectively.
The main downward impacts were recorded in the Transport Index (0.33 percentage points) and the Communication Index (0.07 percentage points), mainly due to lower fuel prices and cheaper mobile phones respectively.
The twelve-month moving average rate was 1.0 per cent.
