Alfred Sant, has encouraged Maltese to visit Gozo during the festive season to enjoy the various Christmas attractions in various parts of the island.

Dr. Sant praised the various Government and private sector initiatives to promote Gozo as a tourist destination during this time of the year.

"Gozo's unique characteristics should be safeguarded and promoted to attract the attention of thousands of Maltese and foreign visitors," said Dr. Sant during a visit to the Nativity village in the village of Ghajnsielem.

Dr. Sant toured this live crib with the participation of 150 volunteers who animate the Nativity village. Dr. Sant praised the enthusiasm and hard work of the volunteers which, he said, is essential for the success of this seventh edition of Bethlehem f'Ghajnsielem.

The Nativity village will include re-enactments of the 'trip' from Nazareth to Bethlehem of Joseph and Mary as well as the Adoration of the Magi on the 3rd of January, when the three Wise Men will depart on horseback from Malta.

They will board the Gozo Channel ferry before making the triumphal entrance to the nativity village.

Thousands of Maltese and foreign visitors are expected to cross over from Malta to Gozo to admire the creative artistic and technical skills of Gozitans who set up various cribs all over the island.
