During a ceremony held this morning at the Police General Headquarters, several Police Officers were commended and awarded certificates for their outstanding service.

All the officers within the Malta Police Force were awarded the shield for the impeccable work done throughout 2015 during the Referendum, the Local Council Elections, the Valletta Summit and also during the CHOGM.

PC 1188 Paul Cassar was awarded the Officer of the Year Award for being central in saving a person's life while trying to commit suicide and also for saving a family from a fire that broke in their residence.

Present for the ceremony were the Minister for Home Affairs and Security, Mr Carmelo Abela, the Speaker, Dr Anglu Farrugia, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Michael Cassar and other high ranking officers.

Mass was celebrated by the Force's Chaplain, Fr Raymond Bonnici.OFM.
