TerraFirma Collective, an NGO platform established in 2015, has today launched training manuals for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Malta.
The manuals are tailor-made for the Maltese organisations to improve their skills in key areas such as fundraising, advocacy, communications and governance.
As part of a project co-financed by the EEA Grants aimed at strengthening civil society in Malta, 65 individuals from 38 NGOs were given free training on fundamental areas for the improvement of the NGO sector.
"10 years after we joined the EU, most Maltese NGOs still struggle due to lack of funds and human resources which are hindering their important social and environmental work. The TerraFirma Collective was established last year to address these problems by providing training to the staff, volunteers and board members of civil society to become more professional and manage to tap into EU funds," said JD Farrugia, TerraFirma Project Manager.
Seven training sessions were conducted by East to West Communications, a Malta based company with partners in the UK, Germany and Turkey. TerraFirma is now launching four Training Manuals tailor-made for small and medium size Maltese organisations to help them benefit from valuable information on issues like 'tapping into EU funds,' 'developing a Strategic Plan' 'board governance' and 'NGO communication and media relations,' among others.
The, EEA Grants are jointly financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. In the period 2009-2014. the EEA Grants supported 86 programmes in 16 countries, including the `Empowering Maltese NGO' project in Malta.
The Training Manuals can be downloaded from terrafirmacollective.org. NGOs can also contact the Project Manager for further information and assistance at info@terrafirmacollective.org.
