An all-time favourite, Bizet's Carmen returns to the Aurora Opera House this October by popular demand. The Theatre said that last year's Traviata turned out to be a massive success with positive local and foreign reviews acclaiming casts and production.
"The Aurora plans to build on that achievement with this Spanish love story, set to French words and music."
Carmen returns at the Aurora at a special time, as the opera house opens its 40th anniversary season. The 2016-2017 season will commemorate the Aurora Opera House's 40 years (October 1976-2016) and 40 years of opera in Gozo (January 1977-2017, Aurora).
Time and again, Carmen in Gozo has proved to be an instant sell-out so opera afficionados are urged to secure their seats at their earliest. This will entail a 10% early-bird offer applicable until end of May 2016.
Tickets priced at €80, €70, €60 and €45 have just been released online via www.teatruaurora.com, via email teatruaurora@leone.org.mt or via the ticket helpline 79045779.
Colin Attard who is celebrating his silver jubilee at the Aurora will lead the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and an international cast that will be announced in due course. Carmen is on at the Aurora on Saturday, the 15th of October, starting at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Aurora will also be hosting Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia – a production of Gaulitanus Choir as part of the 10th edition of Gaulitana festival, on April 23rd 2016. Tickets are available online.
