The New Year opened its doors with round 3 of the 2015/16 Gozo Motocross Championship – a day that the crowds of enthusiasts watching at the will not forget. Head to head fights dominated the day while first-time winners were pleased with their performance that took them to the next level.
The races had everything a seasoned fan or newcomer to the sport would hope to see. The riders put on a courageous and challenging show of their talents – the onlookers saw which riders are ready for the long year ahead and which need plenty to overcome in a quick period of time.
A good turnout of 19 riders participated in Sunday's event, watched by numerous fans who came to support their favourite riders.
As usual the event was divided into three categories. In -Class A Mario Cauchi achieved the maximum points of the day as he swiftly overrode Etienne Bigeni, 2014/15 Champion, who came in second. Robert Spiteri finished third in this class.
In Category B, Matthew Mercieca came up first, while Matthew Zammit stepped up to second place. Daniel Camilleri came in third on his Yamaha YZ 125.
Jorn Stellini held on tightly to his 60 points, the maximum points a rider can achieve during an event. Also in Class C, Josef Camilleri came in 2nd, closely followed by the newcomer Joseph Luke Gauci.
Gozo Motocross Association announced that the next event will take place on Sunday, the 24th of January 2016, showcasing the riders in clouds of dirt, power, speed and endurance. Several FunRaces are also in the pipeline during this exciting new season.

Sunday's event was sponsored by Ravenol Motor Oils. Mr Frank Jude Cutajar, Galea General Services's representative presented vouchers to the winners.
