The Leone Philharmonic Society is presenting an evening of sacred music and reflection entitled: Verba Misericordiae, words of mercy, at the Gozo Cathedral Church within the Gozo Citadel, on Saturday, the 12th of March, starting at 7.30pm.

Among other items, the Leone Band will perform the Spanish symphonic poem La Madruga, Brooks' In the Great Beyond, Gounod's Unfold ye portals and the Inflammatus from Rossini's Stabat Mater. It will also perform Monk's Abide with me, Langey's Nearer by God, to Thee and Mendelssohn's Consolation before closing with the immortal ode to the Holy Cross La Croce (1911) by Orlando Crescimanno.

At the same time, the public will be invited to reflect on the Last Words of Jesus Christ as he spells out the Divine and infinite mercy. This fits in with the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as proclaimed by the Holy Father Francis.

The evening features the Leone Band, conducted by Colin Attard, the Aurora Youth Choir and parish children and poetic reflections by Joseph W Psaila, translations of which will be made available.

It starts at 7.30pm and is expected to last not longer than 80 minutes.

Entrance is free of charge and the majority of the seating is on a first-come-first- served basis. However, those intent to participate may ask to reserve a seat by emailing info@leone.org.mt or calling 79045779 until 10th March 2016.

The Leone Band will then participate in the Good Friday procession that issues from the Gozo Cathedral, on Palm Sunday at 5.30pm and accompany the statue of the Risen Christ in a popular Easter morning manifestation on Easter Sunday at 10.30am.
