Next Friday evening, from 5.30pm onwards, penitential processions with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, will take place along the main streets of most of the villages and towns on Gozo.
Our Lady of Sorrows feast has a very special place in the hearts of thousands of devotees in Malta and Gozo.
It is traditionally celebrated on the Friday before Good Friday, when the faithful will walk in the procession behind penitential pilgrimages.
Many of the penitents walk barefoot, in fulfilment of some vow for favours received through divine intercession.
In Victoria, starting at 6.30pm, a Eucharistic Celebration will be held outside St James Church in Independence Square, this will be followed by the procession with the venerated statue of Our Lady of Sorrows.
