The first meeting of the newly elected Council of the Gozo Tourism Association after the Annual General Meeting was held on Monday, the 6th of March. During this meeting, elections among the council members were held to fill the posts of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Association.

The council members present voted as Chairman Mr. Paul Scicluna. Mr. Scicluna who is one of the representatives of the strong self catering section within the GTA has been sitting on the council since 1999.

The post of vice-chairman was filled by Mr. Mario Loporto, while Mr. Mark Busuttil was reconfirmed as Secretary of the Association. Another executive post was filled by Mr. Joseph Muscat Sammut who was voted as treasurer.

The GTA council also appointed Mr. Amand Veranneman, and Mr. Konrad Scicluna as council members responsible for the membership section.

The 2016 GTA council is formed as follows:

Hotels: Borg Monica, Caruana Brian, Muscat Sammut Joseph

Selfcatering: Gatt Ludgard, Meilaq Brian, Scicluna Paul

Diving: Busuttil Mark

Restaurants: Cassar Chris, Grech Rosie, Mercieca Joseph, Rapa Joe, Spiteri Philip

Tourist Attractions: Loporto Mario

Transport: Pauline Spiteri

Tour Operators: Scicluna Konrad

Handling Agents: Zammit Jamie

Real Estate: Veranneman Amand

Crafts: Bugeja Alda

The newly elected Gozo Tourism Association Chairman, Mr Paul Scicluna thanked the council members for their support and urged all council members to work incessantly towards the enhancement of the tourism industry in Gozo.

He emphasised that working together as one team has been proven to be the winning formula for the mutual benefit of the tourism establishments themselves and the tourism industry on Gozo.
