The Malta Triathlon Federation, the Malta Youth Triathlon Academy-MYTA and Sport Malta teamed together on Sunday to stage a Kids and Youth Triathlon (Swim-Bike-Run), on the occasion of the Open Day at the National Pool Complex,

10-year old Scott Davenport of the Gozo Greyhounds Sports Club, competed in the event, which consisted of a 100m swim, cycle for 3K and run 1K. Scott is trained by his father Ripley Davenport.

Scott got a podium 3rd place in his age group, he said, "I am so happy, representing Gozo Greyhounds Sports Club on Sunday and getting 3rd place. Thank you to Louis Debattista for all your help. Thank you to my Daddy for preparing and training me, and to Vanessa Woods for letting me to use some images. Such an amazing day and event. I will be back again!"

Louis Debattista of Gozo Greyhounds, said that he was proud of him, going to Malta to take up this challenge, not knowing anyone there and then to return home to Gozo happy, with a great result."

He added, "I wish that others like him would join in with sports and activities. Parents need to spend some time, encouragement and dedication to keep kids active and healthy, before they are grown up and it is too late. Well done Scott."
