On the occasion of the inauguration of the new statue in bronze dedicated to San Gorg Preca the Bishop's Curia is publishing a Special Commemorative Card, and a special hand postmark will be issued by MaltaPost.

The hand postmark can be obtained from the MaltaPost Branch in Republic Street, Victoria, on Friday, the 6th of May 2016.

A copy of the Commemorative Card with the special hand stamp can be obtained at the price of € 3 from the Bishop's Curia, Republic Street, Victoria, on Friday between 8.30am and 11.30am. The Gozo Philatelic Society will also be issuing a commemorative postcard.

The life-size bronze statue, will be placed in a niche in the facade of St James church facade. It was designed by young Gozitan artist Manuel Farrugia and was struck in bronze at Domus Dei Foundry in Rome last year.

The inauguration is taking place tomorrow, Friday, the 6th of May, starting at 6.00pm.

The Gozo Diocese said that it will be in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Gozo (1864-2014), the 100th anniversary of the Society of Christian Doctrine in Gozo (1915- 2015), and 75th anniversary of the opening of the first Boys Section in Gozo (1941-2016).
