BirdLife Malta's nature reserves are open for the last two weekends this month. This Saturday and Sunday (21st/22nd May) and the next (28th/29th May) are the last weekends when the nature reserves will be open to the public before they shut over for the summer season.

BLM will be celebrating with some special family activities which will be on at both reserves (Simar, San Pawl IL-Bahia and Ghadira) on the last weekend. All the activities during these Open Days are Free but due to limited space, it is advised that booking for these sessions is done in advance.

The activities will be held at Ghadira Nature Reserve on Saturday 28th May and at Simar Nature Reserve on Sunday 29th May between AM and PM. Those who book will have the opportunity to take part in a 90 minute guided tour which will include nature activities for kids and exploration within the reserves.

Activity timings are:

• Session 1 – 10:00 – 11:30

• Session 2 – 11:30 – 13:00

• Session 3 – 13:00 – 14:30

• Session 4 – 14:30 – 16:00

Bookings can be done by email to events@birdlimed.org and should include name and contact number, which session you would like to attend, the number of persons in the group, number of children and their age.

For those who would just like to come to visit, on both days during the last weekend both reserves will be open for the public, not just for those who booked the events.

Besides nature-related activities for kids, this is also a good time to see baby birds with little chicks around the reserves which people can try to spot. At the reserves you can find Moor hens, Little Ringed Plovers and the Black-Winged Stilts.
