In reaction to the UK's referendum result for a Brexit, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said, whilst fully respecting the free will of the British people, it is sad to note that the younger generation of British people, the ones that voted massively in favour of remain, will be the ones to bear the brunt of this decision."
He added that "the political implications that can be expected in Europe are a rise in rightist populistic policies and a greater yearning for an EU disintegration."
Prof. Cassola concluded, "as for the economic consequences, Malta should brace itself for negative aspects it might have to face. With the strong devaluation of the pound sterling in the currency markets today, the immediate consequence could be a negative impact on tourism originating from the United Kingdom. But we must also brace for not so far away challenges, such as the consequences on Maltese students and residents in Britain as well as a long term reduction in the availability of EU cohesion funds"

People in Britain finally realized, once the people fleeing the middle east to Europe get citizenship they are free to legally invade any member country, including Malta. Your country will no longer be the country you remember.
“younger generation of British people, the ones that voted massively in favour of remain, will be the ones to bear the brunt of this decision.”
Astonishing assumptions for a professor – even for a politician – to make. The people who voted “massively in favour of Remain” lived in central London (where the young can’t afford to live) and in Scotland (where they’ve all left to look for jobs).
Long before there was an EU, there were student exchanges, and generally freedom of travel, across Europe. Let’s not pretend that this idea was an EU invention.
That young people think that their elders should somehow be disenfranchised due to their age, shows immense ignorance of ‘democracy’; the failings of the UK education system; disrespect for their parents and an exaggerated sense on entitlement and their own worth to society as a whole.
The older UK generation is nostalgic for the non existent empire. The young generation will have to bear the brunt of this bad decision.
Perhaps the older generation is nostalgic for being ruled from Westminster, rather than by unknown and unelected faceless people in Brussels.
Iceland 2 England 1.
