A new beach walkway for easier accessibility, a new public toilet and the installation of separate bins for better waste management, were inaugurated at Hondoq ir-Rummien this morning, by the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo.
Dr Refalo spoke about the importance of taking care of the island's beaches, which he said play an important role in the tourism sector.
This year for the first time the beaches of Hondoq and Marsalforn were awarded Beach of Quality status, the next target to achieve is the step up to a coveted Blue Flag.
He that the Ministry for Gozo is working continuously to ensure that this goal is reached, as well as ensure that other beaches are well managed to help improve the Gozo tourism product.
Dr Refalo urged the public to visit the many beautiful beaches here in Gozo, and at the same time keep them clean, and to care for the environment that surrounds them.
