Zminijietna – Voice of the Left said in a statement today "that it's positive that the Government is sensitive about the difficulties facing low income families to access or even sustain paying their monthly rent contributions."
Therefore, Zminijietna said, a state regulated "rent ceiling, is called for, as this will target speculation in rent prices."
It added that, the Government should also introduce new measures to assist financially families with low income who are already facing difficulties in sustaining their rent contributions.
"This concept, if implemented, will address positively various problems, such as price speculation; unsustainability of the property market ; and housing inequality which is on the rise," stated Zminijietna – Voice of the Left.
Zminijietna concluded by saying that "the Government should start addressing these issues, as many families with low and lower-middle income are finding it difficult to enjoy a decent standard of living. While property and rent prices are getting higher, there exists no consideration for the wellbeing of the entire society."
