Studenti Demokristjani Maltin (SDM) has announced the launch of Project 7000 for the 4th consecutive year.

This year, SDM said that it will maintain its promise to collect €7000 for the Malta Community Chest Fund. Apart from the fundraising aspect of this initiative, SDM said that they also encouraging students to dedicate their time to voluntary work.

Students in Gozo will also be given the opportunity to help out and make Project 7000 another success.

"We believe that it is our duty to use our resources to help those in need," said SDM. "In fact, for this year's edition of Project 7000 are promoting voluntary work among students.

Apart from selling this year's unique pink wristband, SDM will encourage students to participate in voluntary work at 7 institutions: Lifecycle, Dar tal-Providenza, Puttinu, Caritas, Friends of the Earth, SPCA and Inspire Malta.

The President of Malta Marie Louise Coleiro Preca together with SDM President Ian Zahra and the Junior College Administration launched this initiative at the Junior College with the participation of student representatives.

The President thanked all students who participated in past editions of Project 7000 and praised this year's initiative as it included voluntary work.

Explaining this year's project, SDM President Ian Zahra stated that although this campaign has been held for four years, this year it will be different and bigger. He said that it will not focus only on the financial aspect of fundraising but it will also encourage students to help others by dedicating their time to voluntary work.

The campaign will benefit seven different entities with different aims. Include helping victims of drug addiction, people with disabilities, protection of the environment and the wellbeing of animals.

The public can donate money to this initiative by buying the SDM €2 wristbands which will be available soon.
