Earlier today the National Literacy Agency, within the Ministry for Education and Employment, launched an initiative called 'Reading Stars/ Brillantini tal-Qari.'
This initiative promotes a love for reading anytime and anywhere. It is aimed at rewarding gifted children who show commitment to reading. Children and adolescents who love reading will be rewarded for acting as role models when they read in public spaces.
At this launch, four students were awarded a certificate of achievement, books donated by the National Literacy Agency and a gift voucher by Merlin Library, who are the sponsors of this initiative. The students read extracts from their favourite books and from their own writings.
The Minister for Education Evarist Bartolo congratulated these students and encouraged them to share their love for reading wherever they go.
