More than 3,000 people have registered as organ donors, since the register was launched last December.

The Minister for Health, Chris Fearne said this was possible thanks also to members of civil society who had joined the government to further increase the number of registered donors.

“Several companies have become involved by fostering awareness among employees and their customers to also become donors,” said the Minister. “Donations of organs represent a new gift of life for patients who receive them.”

Meanwhile in the coming days every household in Gozo and Malta will receive by post, a registration form to become organ donors.
